Even with all the hype you hear about how great affiliate marketing is, to this very day, email marketing is still one of the most cost effective ways in which any online or even offline business can use. It’s a very effective tool that can be used to get your message out to your customers in a quick and effective manner. By following the tips below it should make it a lot easier for you to avoid mistakes that could make your marketing emails less effective.

One important mistake to avoid is using images in the email that simply are not needed. If there are a lot of graphics in your email it can actually make some people’s email downloading time take a lot longer and this can even sometimes make the person have to shut down their browser. When they come back, they are not going to want to open your email again and more than likely they will just delete it.

Don’t include any content in your email that is not related to the message that you are trying to convey. You need to stay focused and get right to the point of your marketing message and make sure you give them information that is of high quality as well as being easy for them to understand.

Make sure that all of the links that you might be including in your marketing email are live links and not dead links that will take the reader absolutely nowhere. This is extremely unprofessional and will make the reader not want to open any of your future emails.

With every marketing email it is very important that you also give them a way to unsubscribe to the information that you are sending them. You need to provide them with an unsubscribe link within the email. This is a polite way to treat those you are sending the email too as well as good for you. This way you don’t have to waste your time and effort continuing to send emails to a person who doesn’t want to get your emails. This will also cut down on spam complaints against you as well.

Don’t have a boring subject line in your email. Try and make the subject line be interesting enough for the person to want to open up the email. If it’s something dull and boring they’re just going to click on delete without even giving your email a chance.

You need to have what is considered a “call for action” statement in your email. This is a statement that is going to compel your readers to take some sort of action that you actually want them to take. This might simply be a something as simple as “click here to order”.

Make sure that you make updates to your mailing list often. You ant to make sure you don’t want to send emails to those addresses that no longer exist or those that always bounce back due to email boxes being full or for other bounce back reasons. Get those addresses out of your contacts.
